Editor's Note

It’s not an easy task to bring change. A dynamic flow of ideas and philosophy that evolves along with the need of time demands rigorous action. Change comes as a gradual transformation of the society and often takes revolutionary forms. Our society follows age old norms and values which form a part of who we are and makes us proud. Yet, some elements of the existent practices need rapid transformation or elimination. Are we ready for these changes? There was a time when politics was thought to be a talk of few intellects. Now, it’s a common interest of anyone, from small tea shops to technical communities you can hear people opine on almost anything. This heightened awareness has seen radical changes being delivered to the country. Strikes and bandhs find it hard to survive unless they have a strong subject matter. You can see responsible citizens vouching for the lawful acts and at times, fighting the injustices that law itself creates. This can definitely be taken as a positive leap towards a better society. The world is talking about human rights and equality. Let us not forget that LGBTI rights have so far been understated. Though the Supreme Court in Nepal has passed a law that addresses the rights of this section of society, the government and society has not shown much acceptance. People talk about the irrational behavior of LGBTI community which includes prostitution, yet few have tried to integrate them into the society so that they too can become a productive force. This edition of Humans of Nepal captures glimpses of working women. Shiksha Nepal’s initiation towards education in rural regions is a commendable act. Rautes, the endangered human species along with numerous ethnic groups in the country need preservation to retain the identity of the country. Pokhara has always been a favored destination for travelers. An escape to Ghandruk/Ghorepani is a must, a short trek that provides the outstanding views of mountain ranges and also familiarizes one with ethnic culture and lifestyle. Chisapani, our next door adventure is an equally delightful trip, both for bikers as well as hikers. Beaches of Goa have always stood as a prime destination for those taking a trip to India. Through our busy work schedule, most of us seldom find time to keep fit. Yoga could be an alternative to take for a healthy lifestyle. Zumba, a trending fitness cum entertainment activity, is another great option to stay in shape. Lastly, a word from the wise-“The immature think that knowledge and action are different, but the wise see them as the same.” Let us speak through our actions.
